If you've ever gone to our Discord server, you’ve probably already heard of *Telos*. Well, today we’ll tell you a little bit more about this project!

Telos is a software or code fork of EOSIO. But, what does this mean? It’s simple: **Telos is creating a completely new blockchain with an improved and modified version of the EOS software.**

Considering that many codes are open and can be used and modified freely in the blockchain world, there are different reasons why they decided to do this. **Telos wants to refocus the source code and promote their vision of what TELOS should be, in terms of the governability, use, accessibility, and future of this technology.

However, there are no enmities or misunderstandings:**

EOS and Telos, both developed with EOSIO, can execute the same smart contracts, which means that **any contract executed in one should work on the other.** It’s worth mentioning that Telos made some modifications on some rules to create a bigger sense of responsibility and increase the attractiveness and stability for dApps developers.

In order to make the ideas of the project possible, Telos has made use of different mechanisms, and the main one has been its Foundation.

**How was it born?**

The Telos Foundation is their main promoting and funding organism dedicated to its blockchain’s progress. Its main objective is **giving subsidies and funds to groups that promote new functions that are necessary for the network** and that cannot be supported by the EOS system of Worker Proposals.

**Which is its token?**

The name of its token is TLOS, which reflects the propriety in Telos, and initially, the promise is that an amount that is three times less than that on EOS will circulate in the market. **This can be seen nowadays as EOS has 906,245.118 tokens and TLOS has 345,896.046.**

Telos is currently an innovate project that already captured the attention of many people, investors, and developers, who foresee an excellent future for this blockchain.
